Rodent Proofing
Rodent proofing a structure is simple in theory, but much more complicated than it seems, to achieve successfully. Even a large rat can fit itself through a hole the size of a quarter, and a mouse only needs a hole the size of a nickel. If only the obvious current access points are repaired (such a torn or loose crawlspace vent screen), the rodents will simply find or make another and begin using it. After all, their nest is inside and their food is outside, so they have an imperative need to come and go! Some of the ways which are used, or could be, are very difficult to find and more difficult to properly seal. Our rodent inspectors are experts at diagnosing rodent behavior in a structure, and at locating all of the possible access points. On our first visit, our inspector will initiate the trapping program, perform a very thorough inspection, and give you a detailed report indicating what needs to be done to seal up the building; the report will include a bid for Eastside Exterminators to perform the repairs. Our rodent proofing technicians use only the finest, most durable materials, and take great pains to ensure that a rodent will never again be able to use the entry points we have sealed. Once the repairs are completed, it is also usually necessary to start keeping the population near the structure as low as possible. Rats will forage an average of 100-150 feet; mice only travel about 50 feet. Both animals will investigate everything within their foraging range. If bait stations are set up outside and maintained on a regular basis, and the building has been sealed to our specifications, the ability of rats and mice to set up their homes in your home again is greatly lessened. Therefore …….when we have repaired the structure, and begun to control the outside population through the use of exterior tamper-resistant bait stations, our services carry a full warranty for the entire time you own the structure!
